Homemade compressor units based on a standard compressor from the refrigerator are far from a new phenomenon. The principle of operation of the compressor device from the refrigerator

The standard compressor from the refrigerator is a compressor unit without a storage tank, which is enclosed in a metal casing. Two copper tubes depart from it, through which air is sucked in and out under pressure. The electrical connection diagram remains practically unchanged, since it is ready. Air filters are mounted on the inlet and outlet pipes, followed by an oxygen hose with an adapter for the consumer.

We assemble the compressor unit

The compressor from the refrigerator is equipped with a start relay, to which the thermostat was initially connected. He does not participate in this assembly, therefore it must be disconnected, having previously marked the contacts on the starting relay, and short them with a piece of insulated wire.

We select the oxygen hose according to the diameter of the nozzle, and mount the air filter at the compressor inlet. One of its plastic nozzles for air sampling can be cut off, leaving a hole free. In the connection, you can do without clamps, since this element of our installation is not under pressure.

The pipe for him should not be made long. Cut it off with a knife, and push the filter by hand. So that the compressor copper tubes are not on the same line and do not interfere with each other, they can be bent in different directions.

Next we attach the second air filter to the outlet. If necessary, the copper pipe under it can be shortened with nippers.

As the practice of the author himself has shown, even with a relatively small pressure, such an assembly cannot do without pressure clamps. We put them on the nozzles, and tighten the connection. The author extinguished the second copper pipe coming out of the compressor with a self-tapping screw and electrical tape.

We attach a small segment of the oxygen hose to the air filter, and connect a spiral hose for compressor work. This can also be done through a quick-detachable adapter.

Now you can connect an air gun for pumping wheels to a spiral hose, and check the operation of our installation. To avoid excessive pressure in the hoses and filter, you can squeeze the trigger of an air gun with a nylon screed.

As you can see, the author of the homemade product managed to get a working pressure of about 3 Atm, which is quite enough for the efficient pumping of wheels in the garage. By the way, this installation can be used for the most diverse work, for example, for painting with a spray gun.

Conclusion

The weak point of this compressor unit is the plastic air filters. At a pressure of several atmospheres, their body greatly inflates, and they can simply burst. Therefore, this option for their use is conditional and not final.
